Township + Range is a Salt Lake City-based community planning firm dedicated to achieving our clients’ goals in holistic, innovative, and effective ways. Our expertise is the intersection of transportation planning and urban design: connecting networks for all modes of travel; creating quality public space environments for people; balancing great neighborhoods with regional transportation needs; planning streets that evoke the places they serve; shaping sustainable cities through transportation; and helping communities to envision positive change. Township + Range was founded by Tim Sullivan in 2017 after 12 years of diverse planning and urban design experience in Utah, California, and throughout the American West.
Tim Sullivan | Principal
Tim is a recognized leader in community planning. He has headed projects ranging from transportation corridor plans to detailed street designs to design manuals to town center plans. Tim’s unique approach to goal-setting, his understanding of both the big picture and details of the built environment, and creativity in envisioning community change have enabled him to bring diverse interests together around common values. Tim speaks frequently on planning and urban design and is the author of two books on cities in the American West, including most recently Ways to the West: How Getting Out of Our Cars is Reclaiming America’s Frontier.
Isha Patel | Planner and Urban Designer
Isha Patel is an Urban Planner and Designer at Township + Range. As a former Equity in Practice fellow (2024), she adeptly weaves equity-focused strategies into urban planning projects she undertakes to cultivate meaningful and inclusive environments. With a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from India and a Master’s Degree in Urban Placemaking & Management from Pratt Institute, in New York City, Isha focuses on sustainable urban development and urban design. Her passion lies in enhancing city vitality through visual storytelling and tactical urban interventions. She is committed to creating pedestrian-friendly environments that improve the systemic management of cities, promoting healthier and more active community interactions. Isha's approach to urban design actively involves engaging community stakeholders in both the US and India to foster dynamic public places where communities can prosper.
Nic Apodaca | Planning Intern
Nic is a graduate student in the City and Metropolitan Planning Program at the University of Utah, specializing in Urban Design. He is interested professionally in urban ecology, climate change, and parks and recreation planning. He has a previous degree in Lusophone Literature and has worked in the ski industry and wine-making. In his free time he enjoys being outdoors, gardening and reading.
Dorsa Azadi | Planning Intern
Dorsa Azadi is a Planning Intern at Township + Range. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in City and Metropolitan Planning, specializing in Transportation, at the University of Utah. She works as a Teaching Assistant at the university, where she aids students in the field of ecological design. Dorsa's main interests lie in active transportation, historical neighborhoods, sustainable neighborhood design, green spaces, and the creation of healthy and walkable communities. Her aim is to make cities more vibrant and active places where people can enjoy spending time in the cities. In her free time, Dorsa enjoys playing the Santour, fashion illustration, playing badminton, hiking, climbing, and spending time in nature.
